Built about 1914, the structure was originally a pool room and barbershop. After remodeling and additions, it opened as a hotel in 1919. As a hotel, it provided accommodations and meals to travelers. Later modifications transformed some of the space from single rooms with shared baths to multi-room apartments. These apartments and the remaining single rooms were rented to the owners and employees of the local businesses as well as to the general public. It was built facing south towards the the highway and railroad tracks near the store and the train station on the west side of what is now Sand Canyon Avenue. With the planned widening of Sand Canyon, the hotel and store were relocated to the east side of the road and converted to office and retail space in 1986.
